Molise trekking in the Lake region

A 6 days journey, involving 4 to 5 hours of hiking per day, with 2 additional days upon request

This itinerary explores the two principal lakes within the Molise region, Occhito and Guardialfiera, along with the hills surrounding them and which extend to the Adriatic Sea on one side. The trails cross farmlands, vineyards, olive groves, pastures and orchards, offering countless points of view over the surrounding landscape, with its valleys and brooks. This specific itinerary crosses four royal Tratturi; the ancient grassy mountain pathways used twice a year (at the end of summer and beginning of spring) to move herds from the mountains of Abruzzo to the Apulia plains, and back again.
