A journey of 4 days and 3 nights
Naples is a very fascinating city, full of wonderful historical and artistic treasures and known for its delicious culinary traditions. A four-day trip tailor-made to discover legends and curiosities of an ancient city once called Partenope. With its art, architecture vibrant street life, Neapolis (New City in Greek) is now known as Napoli.
The itinerary includes a visit into the true heart of Naples: its historic city centre, a unique Unesco World Heritage Site with churches, noble palaces, monasteries and craft shops. What follows is a visit to the Royal Palace, a monument dating back to the Spanish Era. We’ll also discover the hidden treasures hidden underground: the catacombs of San Gennaro and of San Gaudioso in the Sanità district, a renown area that inspired several writers.
Naples is also known for its livelihood, vibrant atmosphere and awesome food. If you’re willing to grasp the secret of Neapolitan culinary tradition, you may also take part in one of our typical Neapolitan delicacy cooking classes.
Our trip wraps it all up with a day in the nearby Caserta to explore the lands of Gomorrah, meet local associations and their daily struggle against criminal clans of the Camorra.

Itinerary
Day 1
THE ROYAL PALACE AND SPANISH QUARTERS
Arrival in Naples and accommodation in the hotel.
If you get there in the morning, we have some suggestions that may lead you to discovering interesting places to visit, before the other travellers arrive.
At 1pm, first group meeting between travellers and the VeM Campania Staff, with an introduction to the trip and schedule.
Street food experiencing, followed by a visit to the Royal Palace and a pleasant stroll through the Quartieri Spagnoli (Spanish Quarters), still renowned as the beating heart of Naples. We’ll certainly be startled by the welcoming atmosphere created by the locals.
Aperitif at Cammarota, while dinner and evening arrangements will be left to personal discretion*.
Overnight stay at the hotel.
*If requested by the group, dinner reservations at typical Neapolitan trattoria “Da Nennella” can be made.
Day 2
THE REBIRTH OF THE SANITÀ DISTRICT AND THE HEART OF NAPLES
Guided visit to the catacombs of San Gennaro and San Gaudioso guided by La Paranza; a cooperative operating in the Sanità district.
Lunch with pizza and other Neapolitan delicacies at Concettina ai Tre Santi
Visit to Palazzo dello Spagnolo and to the Chapel of San Gennaro Treasure in the Cathedral of Naples.
Travellers can then choose whether to visit the Veiled Christ in the Sansevero Chapel Museum, or visit the Cloister of Santa Chiara.
The Sansevero Chapel Museum, nestled in the heart of Naples, is a jewel of international artistic heritage. Baroque style craftsmanship, dynastic pride, beauty and mystery blend to create a unique and almost timeless atmosphere.
With its masterpieces such as the famous Veiled Christ, the Sansevero Chapel is one of the most impressive monuments that human mind has ever conceived. Its is renowned worldwide for the remarkable tissue-like quality of its marble surfaces, for virtuous feats like the Disillusion and the enigmatic creations such as the Anatomical Machines.

Day 3
CASAL DI PRINCIPE AND THE LIBERATION IN GOMORRAH LANDS
Departure for Casal di Principe and visit to Casa di Alice.
“Casa di Alice” is a social tailor shop, that stemmed from the efforts of the Altri Orizzonti social Cooperative and devoted to Joseph Aimbora, a justice witness from Ghana.
Alternatively it is also possible to visit tomb of Don Peppe Diana, killed by Camorra criminals on 9th March 1994 while he was in his Parish San Nicola di Bari in Casal di Principe.
Visita to the areas confiscated from the Camorra now destined to higher purposes.
Lunch at the NCO social restaurant where local products packaged in a cardboard box can be purchased helping to promote the “Facciamo un Pacco alla camorra” initiative.
Return to Naples with overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 4
CLASS OF TYPICAL NEAPOLITAN COOKING
A whole morning to get your hands on the secret of Neapolitan culinary traditions.
Lunch arrangements left to personal discretion.
End of the itinerary. Alternatively, you can extend it.

During the trip, you will be guided by a local ViaggieMiraggi handler, and member of the Progetto Uomo Onlus staff (a Responsible Tourism project that encourages engagement with local culture, people and places).
